I may be lighter than you,

But my father isn't.

I have the ability to speak spanish,

But that doesn't mean I am.

I like my hair straight,

But my curls are natural.

I like to speak proper english,

But my attitude still exists.

My madre's parents?

One's Irish; the other, Portuguese.

My father's?

One's Jamaican; the other, Cherokee.

When summer comes,

I don't turn red.

Although my skin is light,

Ashiness is still visible.
